Ive been messing about with screenprinting, laying the screen directly onto the fabric. That works, but tends to smear. You get a better result using a press to maintain a little standoff betweeen the screen and the fabric.
I did a little looking around the internet, but even the smaller presses are pretty pricy considering their simple construction. I could easily make one using scrapwood I had laying about.

Looking back, I probably should have driven the screws for the pad up from the bottom, so as to leave the working surface unmarred. Oh well, i'll keep that in mind for Screenpress Ver. 2. |

| free Xbox 360 |

I mentioned Rock Band in my last post, but I realized I never told you the story of how I got a free xbox 360.
You see, we blow things up on a regular basis, and I like to invite regular soldiers out to participate. We were setting up one day when one of the ammo guys approached me with a broken Xbox 360 that he was 'mad at' and he wanted to blow up.
I tried to talk him out of it. "It can be fixed," I reasoned. He remained resolute.
Fair enough. He placed it on top of the pile of munitions we were destroying and headed to the safe area. I was double-checking everything when I spotted it sitting there. Now, I cant resist broken technology, so on the spur of the moment, I decided that I would rescue it.
Big explosion, everyone goes home happy (I even let that particular soldier push the button). My electronic refugee goes home with me, where I borrow some cables and set about diagnosing it.
You know what? There was nothing wrong with it.
My best guess is that he must have plugged the 110v only xbox into a wall outlet (which over here are all 220v) and burned out the external power supply.
Since the xbox is mine now (I considered the previous owner lost all claim when he attempted to murder it) I decided to get it running for as little money as possible.
We're missing all the accessories. No tv cable, no power supply, no hard drive and no controllers. Looking on the internet shows that buying all those things individually would cost almost as much as buying a new one outright. Ridiculous! There must be a way to rig something on the cheap. A quick search online reveals that other people have beaten me to it. I just followed their tutorial for rigging an ATX computer power supply and viola! Working xbox!

So yeah, free Xbox 360. Woot! |
